Welcome to Primary Math

Welcome to my Primary Math blog. I am passionate about Math. What is the best way to teach it young children? There seems to be two camps lately- Traditional (the kind we were taught back in the day in school) and Discovery (a more open ended approach). In my opinion, they both have merits. But what has always worked for me in my Language Arts classrooms has been a balance. Students need some repetition. They do not some sense of mastery, yet they can also learn a lot from trying out different methods of solving problems and finding what works for them. Come join me on my journey into Primary Math!
